Privacy
Everything about your family stays on your phone. Hearth has no accounts, no tracking and no ads, and it collects nothing.
What Hearth keeps, and where
To plan each night, Hearth keeps a few things on your iPhone:
- your family name, your first name, and your spouse's if you add one
- each child's first name and birth year
- which study you're in, the nights you've finished, and how far you are in the catechism
- your reminder time, if you turn reminders on
None of this leaves your phone. It isn't sent to us or to anyone else, and we can't see it. Like other apps, it is included in your iPhone's own backups (iCloud or your computer) if you use them, under your Apple account and Apple's privacy terms.
Children are never users of Hearth. They don't sign in or have accounts, and Hearth stores nothing about a child beyond a first name and birth year.
Downloading new studies
When you open Hearth, it checks for new or corrected studies and downloads them from Hearth's content server. The request is a plain download of a public file: Hearth sends nothing about you or your family, uses no cookies, and adds no identifier.
As with any visit to a website, the server provider (Supabase, which hosts Hearth's content) receives your phone's internet address to send the file back, and may keep it briefly in its standard logs. We don't use these logs to identify anyone, and we never combine them with anything else.
Hearth works fully offline. Without a connection it uses the studies it already has.
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled on your phone by iOS. Nothing about them is sent anywhere.
Feedback
"Send feedback" opens a new email in your own mail app, addressed to us. It includes the Hearth and iOS version and the study and night you're on, so we know what you mean; you can delete those lines before sending. We see only what you choose to send, and we use it only to answer you and improve Hearth.
What we don't do
- No analytics or tracking tools inside the app, and no advertising.
- No selling or sharing of data. There is no data to sell.
- No AI inside the app.
Apple may share anonymous, aggregate figures with us through App Store Connect (such as how many people installed Hearth), and only if you've agreed to share with app developers in your iPhone's settings.
Deleting your data
Delete Hearth from your iPhone and everything it kept is erased. To remove a copy kept in your backups, manage those backups in your iPhone's settings. If you've emailed us and want that email deleted, write to us and we will.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. If Hearth ever starts collecting something, we'll say so here before it does.
